Kardashev Scale
#cosmology #sci The Kardashev scale is a method for measuring a civilization’s technological advancement based on the amount of energy it can harness and use.
Soviet astronomer Nikolai Kardashev proposed the scale in 1964.
The Core Levels
Type I: Uses and stores all the energy available from its home planet (~10¹⁶ watts), such as solar, wind, and geothermal.
Type II: Harnesses the entire energy output of its host star (~10²⁶ to 10²⁸ watts), often via a hypothetical Dyson sphere.
Type III: Controls the total energy output of an entire galaxy (~10³⁶ watts).
